Introduction

Welcome to Vault, an online platform for learning games. We prioritize user privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of data we collect, how we use it, and the measures we take to keep it safe. Vault is compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), ensuring that no personally identifiable information (PII) is collected or stored from our users.

Information We Collect

Vault does not collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII) about users. We do, however, collect anonymous interaction and usage data to help us improve our games and enhance the learning experience. This data may include information about how games are played, time spent on different activities, and overall performance metrics.

Use of Collected Data

The anonymous data we collect is used for:

Quality Improvement: Analyzing gameplay data allows us to improve game mechanics, optimize learning outcomes, and better support user engagement.

Research Purposes: Vault is committed to contributing to the scientific understanding of learning and engagement through games. All collected data is anonymized and used in aggregate to support research on learning and cognitive processes. Example research from our lab is available at https://fielddaylab.wisc.edu/research/

Data Sharing and Open Data Policy

To further our mission of advancing research, anonymous interaction data collected from Vault is made openly available on Open Game Data, a National Science Foundation (NSF) and TOOLs-funded research infrastructure dedicated to studying thinking, learning, and emotional engagement through video games. Open Game Data provides access to this data to researchers, educators, and the public to promote transparency and collaborative research.

Data Security

Vault employs industry-standard security practices to protect all data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Access to data is restricted and managed to ensure that all information remains anonymous and secure.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or relevant regulations. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your data.
